Picture Day will be here before you know it and there are some new features that Irvin Simon Photographers this year.

• Every student will have their picture taken on OCTOBER 18, 2019.
• Each student will receive a personal online code about 4 weeks later.
• Parents may go online to irvinsimon.com and choose which picture and background they like best of their child.
• Once you have created your masterpiece, you may place your order online and pay online directly to Irvin Simon. Do not send any money to school. Parents may also call Irvin Simon to place an order on the phone at 1-800-540-4701.
• Pictures will be delivered directly to your shipping address within 2 weeks from the order date.
• Not happy with the photos? Picture retakes will be on December 5, 2019.

We look forward to a wonderful picture day and hope that some of you might be able to help out. If you’d like to volunteer for the morning, afternoon, or full day, please let us know here!

Hey parents! Our awesome Ms. D’Andrea needs help! Every year, the sixth graders put on a spectacular stage presentation that is a delight to watch.  The kids will be doing Shrek this year, and Ms. D’Andrea is in need of some awesome volunteers. Do we have any parents interested in being stage hands? Email us and let us know!

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the PA General Meeting this past Wednesday! It was great to reconnect with the returning families, and wonderful to meet to see so many new faces. We are excited that so many parents are eager to be involved in the success of our children, and we look forward to working with you in service to our school community this coming year!

OUR NEW SLT MEMBERS
The PA has elected this year’s School Leadership Team. (Read about what SLT is here.) Please join us in welcoming Richard Nunez Lawrence, Bae Chu, Omatali Beckett, Whitney Thomas and Jennyfer Rosero who will begin their two year term starting Monday.

Please note that our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 17th so mark your calendars!

In honor of International Day of Peace, we’d like to ask our students to wear white on Friday, September 20th.

Friday, the 20th also happens to be birthday celebrations for September kids! (Parents, please make sure it’s single-serve items that do not require the teachers to cut or prepare. Also, no goody bags, please.)

Hey parents! If you haven’t yet signed up for Class List, please feel free to jump onto our website and sign up! The Class List exists to let parents of classmates contact one another for questions about homework, school related events, and to set up playdates and birthday parties. Click on the Class List Sign Up link and enter your information by Sept 27th!

Parents and Guardians: Thinking about how you can participate and engage in the progress of our school? Run for an SLT position! The SLT meets on the third Monday of every month to help develop goals and strategies for improving performance of the school. This paid position is a two-year commitment that helps guide in the decision-making process, allowing our students to excel. Join us at the General Meeting on the 18th, and nominate yourself!

The school will be hosting Meet the Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, September 10th.  This is a general information session to learn about this year’s curriculum. You will be directed to your child’s classroom, where the teacher will give you a summary of what to expect for the school year.

At this time you will not have the opportunity to meet individually with your child’s teacher. (Individual meets will happen at Parent Teacher Conferences in November.)

We encourage you not to bring young children to this event.
