Parent Workshop: Friday, November 22nd

Please join Ms. Mooney and Mrs. Maier-Hopkins for a presentation where they will discuss:

  • tips to improve daily life that will help children develop positive attitudes toward school and learning
  • the importance of conversation and talking to and with your child
  • technology use in the home
  • self motivation in children
  • questions/concerns that family members may have

Returning by popular demand after last month’s workshop for families of students with special needs: Come meet Kerabanoo D’Rozario of Parent to Parent Of NYS, a statewide not-for-profit organization established to support and connect families of individuals with special needs.

Any additional time following the presentation will be devoted to upcoming committee discussions.
 
Childcare for school-aged children is available for the meeting. Light refreshments will be served.

COMMUNITY EVENT: Winter Coat Swap & Drive!

COATDRIVE2019

The PA will be hosting the annual community Winter Coat Swap & Drive! 

You’re invited drop off your gently used coats, sweaters and winter items and participate in a coat swap at the Main Building (Bake Sale area) during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 14th.

From 1-3pm and 5-7pm, clothing collected from the swap will be available for the taking for all PS 99 students and their families. No need to donate to “shop” for free! Help recycle and distribute clothing and keep everyone warm!

If you’d like to bring it in earlier this week, feel free to drop it off in the Coat Drive boxes that have been set up in the lobbies of both the Main Building and Annex.

The Coat Drive boxes will also be out until December 6th. Any donated clothing will be brought to local shelters for distribution after the 6th.

Afterschool Program Sign up November 6th – 8th

Hi Parents/Guardians, don’t forget! Afterschool program sign up for Session 2 takes place TODAY, TOMORROW, and FRIDAY, November 6-8.

Registration will take place in person only. If you’re unavailable at these times, you may send an adult representative. Registration for each session will be accepted only on these dates. The Policy Contract must be signed and submitted at time of registration.

Session 2 Dates: December 16, 2019 – March 13, 2020
Registration Dates: November 6-8

Time: 3:00 – 5:00pm

6th Grade & 2nd Grade Dues at Parent-Teacher Conferences

Dear 6th Grade Parents/Guardians:

Each year the Parents’ Association organizes the sixth grade year-end activities, and collects class dues that help cover the associated costs.

The class dues are $65 per student. The money helps to cover the following:

  • yearbook
  • custom t-shirt
  • sixth grade prom
  • class picnic

The PA will be collecting the dues during the Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 14th. Please plan on submitting your dues at the conferences.

Cash or money order is accepted. If writing out a money order, please make it payable to PS99 Parents’ Association. Please include your child’s name and class on the money order.

You will receive future notices on yearbook photo and statement submissions, as well as volunteer opportunities in the coming months!

 

2ndGrade

This is an exciting year for our 2nd grade students! Next year they will move to the Main Building to join the “big kids.” In celebration of this milestone, the Parents’ Association will be organizing a Moving Up Ceremony to be announced at a later date.

The PA will collect 2nd grade dues to help cover the costs associated with the ceremony.

The class dues are $25 per student. The money helps cover the following:

  • Moving Up Ceremony Breakfast
  • t-shirt
  • special gift

The PA will be collecting the dues during the Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 14th. Please plan on submitting your dues at the conferences.
