On Monday, September 17, the school will be hosting Meet the Teacher Conferences. This is a general information session to learn about this year’s curriculum.

There are two sessions to choose from:

Session 1 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Session 2 6:00pm – 7:00pm

At this time you will not be meeting individually with your child’s teacher. (You will have the opportunity to do that during the Parent-Teacher Conferences.)

We encourage you not to bring your children to this event. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The Parents’ Association will be hosting its first General Meeting of the school year.

Time: 6:00-8:00PM
Location: Main Building auditorium

We invite parents to attend to get acquainted with the PA board, as well as other fellow parents, and to learn about the events that will be taking place in the upcoming year.

Hey Parents! Looking for an opportunity to make a difference at PS 99? Consider running for the School Leadership Team (SLT)! 

WHAT IS A SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM?
A School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group consisting of all the constituencies that make up our school: The Principal and Assistant Principals, a Parents’ Association Co-President, a UFT (United Federation of Teachers) Chapter Leader, Parents and Staff.

WHAT ARE THE DUTIES?
As an SLT member you will:

• Develop and review the schools’ Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP), including annual goals and objectives;
• Consult with the Principal in developing a school- based budget and staffing plan aligned with the CEP; and
• Assist in the evaluation and assessment of the school’s educational programs and their effect on student achievement

TIME COMMITMENT
The SLT meets on the third Monday of every month during the school year at the Main Building from 4:30 – 6:30pm. Reimbursement for 30 hours of service on the SLT is $300. Please note that the SLT member position is a two year commitment.

The PA is looking to nominate and elect 4 regular and 2 alternative SLT member positions during the PA General Meeting on September 20th.

You will have an opportunity at the meeting to speak about why you’d like to be an SLT member.

Deadline for nomination is 2:00 p.m., September 20, 2018.

The Democratic Primary is happening today, Thursday, September 13th. Don’t forget your civic duty! Polls are open until 9:00pm!

In observance of Rosh Hashanah, school will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and will resume Wednesday, September 12th.

Each year, the Department of Education asks families to fill out a Family Income Inquiry Form. The Family Income Inquiry Form is a key factor in determining whether PS 99Q is eligible to receive Title I and other funding. For example, Title I provides resources for programs and services to eligible schools.

By submitting this form, you can help ensure that funding PS 99Q is properly calculated for these resources.

Beginning this month, families can complete a Family Income Inquiry Form online at www.myschoolapps.com. Filling out the form online is quick and easy, and only takes a few minutes.

If you prefer not to complete the Family Income Inquiry Form over the summer, the school will send a paper form home in September. It is important that you complete it as soon as possible so funding for the school is properly calculated. 

Please note that all information is kept confidential. Federal regulations do not allow the Department of Education to share your information with any other agency.

Beginning June 27, the city will be offering summer meals at nearly 1,200 for all NYC kids under 18 years old. Breakfast and lunch are available until August 31st. No registration, documentation, or ID is required to receive a free meal.

Meals are available Monday through Friday with breakfast served from 8:00am to 9:15am, and lunch served from 11:00am to 1:15pm. Select locations will also offer meals on Saturday and Sunday.
