The schoolyard at PS 99 in Kew Gardens was buzzing with excitement on Friday, September 19th, as families, students, and staff gathered for the much-anticipated Back to School BBQ—the first Parent Association (PA) event of the year. From 4 to 7 PM, the main building’s schoolyard transformed into a vibrant hub of community spirit, delicious food, and joyful reunions.

A huge shoutout goes to Council Member Lynn Schulman (@lynn4nyc) for joining the festivities and bringing positive energy to the event. Her presence was a meaningful show of support for the school and its families, and the PA was thrilled to have her there.

Attendees indulged in classic BBQ fare—burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and more. There was also plenty of games, dancing, face paint, limbo and crafts.
